“Uncle Tom’s Children,” “Black Boy”, “Native Son.” Today BRTW celebrates Richard N. Wright! Believe it or not, I became familiar of Wright’s work a few years ago when I got the chance to portray him in a play. I know, right? Richard Wright was born on September 4th, 1908 in Natchez, Mississippi. Wright was a prolific writer during the Harlem Renaissance and wrote short stories, poems and literature. Mostly his  literature focused on  black actualization at in the mid twenties.  If you’re not familiar with Wright’s work I’d say go your nearest bookstore and find one of his books. Wright has had an amazing life: chased by the U.S government, accusations to of being a communist and lastly, being apart of the movement in Harlem in the twenties and getting to know writers like James Baldwin and Ralph Ellison.
